Chana dal Curry

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup Chana dal
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Musterd seed and Cumin seed
  • 1 tbsp Ginger and Garlic paste
  • 1 tsp Cumin and Coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Red chilli powder
  • 1 Tomato medium chopped
  • 1 1/2 cup water
  • Handful chopped coriander

Recipe:

  • In a pressure cooker add oil and add mustard and cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  • Now add ginger garlic paste and cook it for 20 – 30 seconds, add cumin and coriander powder and stir well. Cook the spices for another 20 seconds or so. Make sure they don’t burn.
  • Now add washed chana dal and the rest of the ingredients except fresh coriander. Mix everything well. Close the pressure cooker and cook it for 3 whistles.
  • Let the pressure cooker cool down before opening. This will take at least 10 min or so. Open the cooker and add chopped coriander and mix well. If you prefer garam masala, add 1/4 tsp now and mix well.
  • Enjoy with rice or any Indian bread!
