Dal Vada

My mum’s dal vada are best! She make them quite often and they always desperate in no time.These dal vada are similar to falafel but spicy and less dry. Ideal with a cup of chai!

Ingredients:

  • 100 gm mung dal with or without skin
  • 1 inch ginger piece (finally chopped/ grated)
  • 5-6 green chilies (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
  • salt to taste
  • ¼ tsp turmeric
  • 2 tbsp gm gram flour
  • 250 ml oil
  • A pinch of eno or cooking soda
  • About 2 tbsp cold water as as required for stiff dough

Recipe:

  • Roast corriende seed, aniseed and cumin seeds for 2-3 minutes on low heat till it realised aroma. Now grind it in a coarse powder.
  • Fry on medium heat it they are nice and golden and cooked thoroughly . Enjoy while they are still warm!
