Paratha

Homemade paratha serves 3-4 people.

Ingredients:

  • 350 gm Medium chapati flour
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 3/4 cup Boiling Water
  • Ghee
  • Plain flour

Recipe:

  • In a large bowl, take flour and add oil in the middle.
  • Now add boiling water in the flour and start mixing with a table spoon or wooden spoon.
  • Once flour starting to bond, if possible use hand to bind all the flour into a smooth dough. If handling the flour is harder due to hot water, try to use spoon as long as possible and then finish of with the hand.
  • Let dough rest for 5 min. Now divide the dough in 8 rough balls.
  • Take a ball and by using both hand turn one ball in to a round patty. Dip this flat dough patty in a dry plain flour. Now roll out this patty like puri or muffin size chapati. Now take some ghee and apply on half of this chapati. Now fold this chapati in half, covering ghee and not in a neat half. Now apply little more ghee on half of this half chapati. Now fold again in an another half. Now are ended up with a quarter shaped chapati with layers. Now roll out this chapati if possible less round and more triangular shape.
  • Once rolled out, cook on hot tava. Less cooked on first side. Flip the side. Cook little longer on this side. Once it’s almost cooked on second side, apply little ghee on first side and flip to the first side to cook and help to let the paratha rise and cook by gentle pushing with a solid turner or slotted turner for 10 second or so. Now turn it back on second side and cook for another 5 second or so and take off the tava.
  • Enjoy with any curry while it’s hot.
