This potato dish is mainly use as dhosa stuffing but it is equally yummy with puri!
Ingredients:
- 2 large potatoes
- 2 medium onion
- 1 tsp Chana dal
- 1 tsp Urad dal
- 1 whole red chilli
- 1/2 tsp tumeric
- 2 medium finally chopped green chillies
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 1 tsp salt
Recipe:
- Peel the potatoes and cut them in the cube and boil them / steam them.
- Meanwhile slice the onion thinly.
- In a large sauce pan / frying pan take 1 tbsp oil and heat it for 20/ 30 seconds. Now add Chana dal and cook it for 20/ 30 seconds now add urad dal (and broken cashew nuts-optional) as it takes little less time to cook then chana dal since they are small.
- Now add onion and let them cook on low heat for them to be a little translucent. Once they are almost translucent, add chopped chilli, ginger paste, salt, turmeric.
- Once the potatoes are cooked, add them to the onion and spice mixture. Mash the potatoes a little bit and if the mixture is too dry add little water from boiled potatoes.
- Turn off the heat and add chopped coriander leaves.
- Enjoy while hot with puri or other choice of indian bead!
